An Unplanned Hiatus
Hey, N.P., where ya been?
Odds are you didn’t notice that I’ve taken an unplanned hiatus from Substack, but yeah, it’s happened… and still happening.
I have to remind myself that although I ENJOY this space, the reason I signed up was to encourage myself to write more and to learn from other writers— which I am doing a lot of right now.
My novel continues to write and unwrite and rewrite itself.
I have 12 sestinas of my 52 sestina goal completed.
My chapter on writing for people in my industry is off to press for a December release.
I’m about half-way through my work as a contributing co-writer (not even sure how to label my relation to the original authors at this point lol) to another professional-focused book.
I just finished writing the second draft of a keynote for a client.
I wrote a blog article on AI and cybersecurity for another client.
I delivered 4 hours of training on writing to a team at a medical device company with 4 more to go and 8 hours for another team.
I completed 6 hours of one-on-one coaching on writing for a professional peer.
I edited a (surprisingly good and practical) book about AI adoption and leadership.
I’ve read 15 books, mostly fantasy, and am about to commit to reading all of Sarah J. Maas’s books before ACOTAR 6 and 7 drop (why yes, I am a basic bitch sometimes).
And I have no less than 4 other books/series ideas sketched out on index cards.
July is looking slow, and while I hope it picks up for financial reasons, I am also looking forward to the free space to check some of my creative goals off.
And, of course, I miss my Substack friends, so I’m looking forward to getting back to you all too.
TLDR: Substack worked too well.
What have you been up to while I’ve been MIA this past month?
